Feature to Product

Discovery & strategic planning for a 0-1 product.

Discovery & strategic planning for a 0-1 product.

Discovery & strategic planning for a 0-1 product.

Problem

Within the companies main product a 'feature' level item sits that delivers high value in it current guise but is potentially under performing. We hypothesised that a feature could provide better value to both our customers and business if it was separated from its parent product (both technically and commercially).

Discovery

  • Product Market Fit discovery in current territories and new

  • Willingness-to-pay for current and new customers & potential pricing strategy

  • Technical discovery into how this could be developed > current product codebase could be limiting

  • Continuous discovery interviews with prospects and existing customers

Learnings

  • We need to technically split from the existing product to be able to develop at pace

  • Customer value and benefits resonated with new and existing customers. However;

    • Current customers valued the feature but were unsure about paying extra

    • New customers could see the value and would pay as a stand-alone

Solution / Next Steps

  • Proof of Concept required to prove that we could technically separate and develop at speed ✅

  • Discovery activities to define the product strategy and roadmap ✅

  • Start sales activities to onboard new customers ✅
